Showers and wet area waterproofing systems have evolved since building methods adopted 50 years ago. Many years ago showers featured concealed metal trays, which lasted for years until the tray rusted out. However this method was expensive and limited architectural shower design. Today’s modern showers and wet area are constructed liquid membrane applied by brush or roller. The downside is that many builders and trades do not apply the membranes correctly leaving the potential for long term shower leaks.
